trust the process…

I practice using attachment and body-based practices, art therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy, and Internal Family Systems. In collaboration with my clients, we seek to determine patterns of what is working and what no longer serves them in their day-to-day lives. I believe the language we use shapes the story we tell ourselves and, in turn, how we relate to others in a larger societal context.

In the therapeutic process, I take into account the whole person and view each of my clients from a culturally-sensitive and trauma-informed lens. I hold the assumption that everyone has been impacted by past events, experiences, and emotions. Trauma often disconnects us from our whole true selves and can leave us with wounded inner parts that need healing. Through this work, we will address distressing memories, how the nervous system operates, and how primary relationships shape our worldview.

As humans, we often disconnect our minds and bodies resulting in unhelpful ways of coping to maintain feeling safe in our own bodies. Learning to be mindful of our bodies can offer us a source of inner-knowing and powerful healing. As a Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT-200), I utilize mindfulness-based and somatic practices to help inform clients where they hold their emotions and help them move through it.

Anti-Racism & BIPOC-Ally Statement

As a White therapist and human, it is my mission and duty to diligently use my privilege to cultivate not only an anti-racist practice, but to actively work toward dismantling the systemic, institutional, and structural discrimination and disempowerment of BIPOC individuals. I am an advocate, ally, and voice for racial justice and equity for all my clients and humans alike. I am imperfect and always learning. This work around cultural humility and competency is ongoing and a top priority as a clinician.
